ARTIST BIO

                                          Artist Biography

                                           Marguerite Swann

Marguerite Swann has come to art in her 70’s, with the joy and wonder of one on a road not travelled, but longed for. As a child she recovered enough from acute paralytic polio to later become a secondary teacher of English and History, and to have a family. Always deeply interested in life’s existential questions she studied Theology and had a second teaching career that was shortened by the onset of Post - Polio Syndrome. Art followed (CAE), with time then to pursue her recent interest in making digital images, suited to her present situation.

The images are mixed media collages, photographed, enhanced and printed on metal, giving a glow, honouring remembered ‘life moments’.

“….from my own situation of limit comes intense longing for lived life, connection and transcendence, the sense of something more than the physical, the sense of life, whispering through the light, hinting perhaps at other worlds, to be imagined or apprehended …”
