Ona Henderson    Painter, printmaker

Studied art late sixties at Swinburne University.   Full-time fine artist since 1980.

Shortlisted for the Inaugural Cromwell's Art Prize 2004; & finalist 2005 touring London 2006;
then Paris & New York with a contracted international agent.

New York exhibition 2003-2004. Travelling group show, East Coast U.S.A. ending in New York City.

25 Main Exhibitions and 54 Feature Exhibitions.
Many awards include   Best Exhibit at W.A.S.A. 1989, 1996, 1999,  Best Watercolour (W.A.S.A.)1995,
Best Mixed Media (W.A.S.A.) 2000.
Galleries include  The Light Gallery, Central London, Britain;
Clarke Galleries (catalogue by Grier Clarke) New York, Palm Beach & Vermont, U.S.A.

Ona's creative interpretations often have a dreamtime feel. Aspects of nature become metaphors for the human spirit where
she uses symbols and totems to layer meaning in her painting and printmaking.
Her love of figures, landscapes and flowers are increasingly important in her new renaissance series.

Ona has collaborated with her husband, Syd Tunn as a result of the bushfires, in their CollaborArt Duet Series.


Co-ordinated the Nillumbik Artists Open Studio program from 1988 till 2005 jointly with the Nillumbik Shire.
Initiated the Victoria Archibald Salon des Refuses, 2002 & the Salon de Montsalvat Art Prize ( & curated it, 2006 ) Montsalvat Galleries.
Appointed director of the Dunmoochin Foundation Board 2005.
