ARTIST BIO

Cara Love

As an Art teacher for 30 years, I have always practised my craft. I have used photography in order to draw imagery for paintings or drawings. Over the years my imagery has reduced to the small details of landscapes and I have gradually discovered that the photograph itself is the image I wanted.

My love of details has been a life-long obsession. I like to point out the little things that are often overlooked in the grandeur of landscapes. I stopped taking the full vista to capture what was at my feet or hidden. It is the quiet places that hold beauty. With the advent of digital imagery I am in my element as far as my medium is concerned. I am able to develop imagery that with the zoom can lose its original identity, grow and develop to take on new ideas, colours or concepts. It also allows me to develop and add my own colour and story to natures palette.

I have exhibited in a number of local shows, including the Parade Art show and Artists on Were St and in the past have been involved in Rotary shows. I have sold designs in local galleries but due to teaching commitments have not devoted enough time to my art until recently.
